Jehovah's Witnesses Stuck In The Dark Ages

Even Barbie knows the Jehovah's Witnesses are wrong

In the Study Edition of the August 15, 2014 Watchtower (PDF) there is an article entitled: "What Is The Role Of Women in Jehovah's Purpose".

In the article, on page 9, it states:

"And at Pentecost 33 C.E., about 120 men as well as women received God’s spirit in a special way. (Read Acts 2:1-4.) That outpouring of holy spirit was foretold in the words: 'I [Jehovah] will pour out my spirit on every sort of flesh, and your sons and your daughters will prophesy . . . And even on my male slaves and female slaves I will pour out my spirit.' (Joel 2:28,29)" (Watchtower, August 15 2014, Page 9)

It then states on page 10:

"Also, women make up the greater number of over 1,000,000 full-time Kingdom proclaimers world-wide. God has indeed granted faithful women the privilege of participating in the fulfillment of the psalmist’s words: 'Jehovah gives the command; the women proclaiming the good news are a large army.' - Ps. 68:11." (Watchtower, August 15 2014, Page 10)

And then:

"In the near future, godly men and women will transform the earth into a paradise and help millions of resurrected ones to learn about Jehovah’s purposes. Until then, whether male or female, let us cherish our privilege of serving him 'shoulder to shoulder.' - Zeph. 3:9." (Watchtower, August 15 2014, Page 10)
  • According to the article, the Bible, and Jehovah, both men and women will prophesy.
  • According to the article women make up the greater number of full-time kingdom proclaimers.
  • According to the article, and the Bible, women will serve Jehovah shoulder to shoulder with their male counterparts.
All sounds well and good except it isn't what the Jehovah's Witnesses practice.

The article makes it sound as the Jehovah's Witnesses treat women as equals but in reality the out-dated religion still treats women as inferior. Women cannot become elders.

Many Jehovah's Witnesses will quote 1Timothy 2:11-12 as an answer for why women cannot become elders:

"Let a woman learn in silence with full submissiveness. I do not permit a woman to teach or to exercise authority over a man, but she is to remain silent." (1Tim 2:11-12, NWT)

But if your not a Jehovah's Witness and are allowed to think outside what the Governing Body spoon feed, you'll notice the following three verses:

"For Adam was formed first, then Eve. Also, Adam was not deceived, but the woman was thoroughly deceived and became a transgressor. However, she will be kept safe through childbearing, provided she continues in faith and love and holiness along with soundness of mind." (1Tim 2:13-15, NWT)

The only excuse for women not being elders is because Eve was deceived and every other woman should be at home giving birth to as many kids as possible. Wonder if any of the Jehovah's Witnesses really believe that when they visit a doctor and that doctor turns out to be a woman.

We are living in the 21st Century not the dark ages. Most major religions allow women to be ordained equally like their male counterparts. But the Jehovah's Witnesses would rather stick with the principles of 33 CE and the outdated guidance of old Watchtower magazines:

"Among the witnesses of Jehovah any adult, dedicated and baptized male Christian who is qualified may serve in such ministerial capacities as giving public Bible discourses and funeral talks, performing marriages and presiding at the Lord’s evening meal or supper. There is no clergy class." (Watchtower, February 1964, Page 86)

Which is odd when you look at other aspects of the Jehovah's Witnesses and realize their stance on certain subjects changes on an almost yearly basis.
